What are some of the key skills and knowledge you acquired during the MFAcc program that are still important to you today?

The DIFA program provided me with the essential skills to enter the forensic accounting field. Through the DIFA/MFAcc programs, I learned crucial skills that I utilize daily in my role as an expert witness. These skills include maintaining independence, proficient report writing, and effective testimony in Court.

What were some of the most valuable lessons and/or memorable experiences from your time at MFAcc?

One of the most memorable moments of my time in the DIFA/MFAcc programs was participating in the Capstones. These in-person events provided invaluable opportunities to attend presentations by industry experts, gaining insights directly from professionals in the field. In addition, meeting and collaborating with fellow DIFA/MFAcc students offered a great learning experience, allowing for the exchange of ideas, networking, and building lasting connections, a lot of which I still value today.

What advice would you give to professionals who are looking to pursue a degree and career in Forensic Accounting?

As a Forensic Accountant, it's crucial to recognize that you bear the ultimate responsibility for your findings and may be called upon to testify in court. As such, trust your instincts, stay open minded and uphold your independence at all times.

What trends or changes have you observed in your industry since graduating, and how have you adapted to them?

The need for forensic accountants with skills in areas such as cryptocurrencies, money laundering and other specialized areas are increasing. Since graduating, I've pursued additional certifications, trainings, and other learning to stay updated on industry trends. This ensures that I maintain the necessary expertise to meet the evolving demands of the field.
