"Education opens doors while it opens minds. Education not only makes you a more interesting person, but it provides the means to meet more interesting people", so says David Debenham, President of the Association of Certified Forensic Investigators of Canada, and Co-Chair of the Fraud Law Group of the National law firm of McMillan LLP. David has used education in his journey through life to not only bridge the gap between the professions of law and accounting to plumb the intricacies of fraud investigations, but also as a conduit to meeting a variety of notables in the worlds of science, sports, entertainment and politics along the way.

David is trained as both a trial lawyer and a forensic accountant, and has led many fraud investigations over the past 25 years. He is the author of The Law of Fraud and the Forensic Investigator (3rd ed., Carswell, 2012).

A University of Toronto DIFA graduate in 2006 and MFAcc graduate in 2018, David has found his time with our faculty to be the capstone to his education.
